Scaffolding rarely gets treated as a critical-path item, but on most industrial sites, it effectively is one. Fabrication, painting, inspection, insulation, and maintenance work all depend on safe, correctly positioned access — and every one of those trades is idle until scaffolding is in place.
Badly planned access doesn't fail loudly. It fails quietly, as small delays that compound: a platform positioned slightly wrong, a load path that wasn't accounted for, a modification that has to wait for the next shift because the right supervisor wasn't on site to approve it.
Work-at-height safety and structural integrity have to be treated as one discipline, not two. A scaffold that's technically stable but awkward to work from encourages shortcuts — the safest scaffold is also the one that lets the trade above it work properly without improvising.
We coordinate scaffolding scope against the erection and maintenance schedule directly, not as a standing service running in parallel. When access planning and work planning are done by the same team, modifications happen faster and rework drops.
